Jay has only had two good albums... Reasonable doubt and the blueprint... The rest in my opinion are garbage. 2 out of 9 isn't very good odds so i don't have too much hope for this album. Only reason why we really do listen is because the production and presentation of the albums are top shelf. One of the most important rules of life. Surround yourself with great people and their greatness will double off of you. He caputure your ears with with the beats and caputures your heart with the lyrics. The more i listen to this album the more it solidifies my point about jay, he has two good cds his first and black album, everything in between is watered down garbage. And this cd while having a semi-promising start falls completely flat of anything special. A studio album is just that, a studio album, so on said album there is gonna be a mix of what people want, some like this, some like that, but they all buy. Ok... The album is out... The only way anyone can possibly say the album is not a classic is if, #1 the listener is so "slow" that his iq prevents him from comprehending what jay is sayin, #2 the listener does not understand music/hip-hop, #3 the listen is just hatin! this album is like the reasonable doubt album... When reasonable doubt dropped n*ggas went out and got it, but n*ggas ain't really "get it" until years later. Which is why jay said, " i dumb down for my audience, doubled my dollars, they criticize me for yet they all yell holla." jay is changing the game, again, with this disc and i'm glad! hip-hop has gone through many fazes. 95% of the sorry ass mcs out right now can only rap about 1 thing, the same thing they have always rapped about, bullsh*t! i'm tired of seeing all these no talent ass mc on stage rapping about nothing! and some of these mcs got the nerve to take "shots" at jay.
