DJ Clue Ends Five Year LP Drought December
Wednesday, November 29, 2006 By: Michael Ivey
Def Jam Recordings will reportedly December 19 release the third volume of celebrated personality DJ Clue's 'The Professional' series.
Fabolous, whose Def Jam debut is also due in December, is featured on the Kanye West produced first single "Like This." Fellow Def Jam mates Young Jeezy and Juelz Santana ("F*ck Off") as well as original Clue mixtape staple Jadakiss ("Ugly, produced by Swizz Beatz), Snoop Dogg ("Almost F***ed"), Mike Jones and Paul Wall ("Grill & Woman"), Fat Joe and Remy Ma ("U Don't Wanna") and M.O.P. ("NY Giant") appear on 'The Professional 3.'
Clue made the leap from DJ/street mixtape pusher to major label artist when in 1997 Def Jam released 'The Professional,' which included the gritty "Ruff Ryders Anthem." Since then he has produced 'DJ Clue Presents: Backstage: A Hard Knock Life,' the gold selling album 'The Professional 2' and a slew of mixtapes through his Desert Storm imprint.
Known more for breaking and yelling over records than making them, Clue actually produces six songs on his new album, including "I Really Wanna Know You" featuring Jagged Edge and Fabolous, "Liberty Bell" featuring Philadelphia's own Beanie Sigel and Cassidy, "It Was All Good a Week Ago" (part 1 features, Mario Winans, part 2 boasts the Game and Mario) and "The Gold" featuring Mobb Deep. Clue this year left his post as radio jock on New York's Hot 97 for a job at rival station Power 105.1.
