Mixunit Removes Mixtapes From Its Website
Tuesday, January 23, 2007 By: Claudio E. Cabrera
In light of DJ Drama and Don Cannon's arrests in Atlanta last week and the sudden crackdown by the RIAA, MIXUNIT.COM has proceeded to remove all mixtapes from it's website. The DJ's who were charged with racketeering, had close to 80,000 of their CD's confiscated.
Mixunit.com will now focus on clothing and street DVD's. A statement released by the company still shows a everlasting devotion to the mixtape game.
"The DJs and their influences have forever been the cornerstone of hip-hop, as DJs have long been tastemakers and leaders in the field of artist promotion. Mixtapes have forever served as a platform for artists to promote their music in a form unique to hip-hop, and our allegiance lies with the DJs and the culture they've helped create," MixUnit said.
