Dr. Dre Announces Film Production Deal
Monday, February 12, 2007 By: Kenny Rodriguez
Dr. Dre has announced a joint venture with his newly-formed Crucial Films production company and movie studio New Line Cinema.
According to the deal, the West Coast beat-maker will co-produce projects with director Phillip Atwell, who has worked on videos for “Forgot About Dre” and “Guilty Conscience.”
Along with his film team, Dr. Dre is also slated to handle the musical scores.
“This is a natural switch for me, since I’ve directed a lot of music videos,” Dre recently told Daily Variety. “And I eventually want to get into directing.”
Dre has worked with New Line Cinema on previous projects, including composing the score for “Set It Off” (1996) starring Queen Latifah and Jada Pinkett-Smith.
