Kanye West’s Mom Releasing Autobiography
Tuesday, February 20, 2007 By: Kenny Rodriguez
Dr. Donda West, mother of Kanye West, is penning a book detailing her experience as a single mother raising the awarding-winning rapper.
The book, titled “Raising Kanye,” will be released via Simon and Schuster’s Pocket Books imprint, and was written in conjunction with best-selling author Karen Hunter – who also co-wrote books with Queen Latifah, Al Sharpton, LL Cool J, and Mase.
The autobiography will detail Dr. West’s life in Chicago’s South Side, where she was the former chairman of Chicago State University’s English department, and also worked as a teacher and attended night school to earn her doctorate.
Once her son was en route to becoming a hip-hop superstar, she quit her position at the university and became his manager.
“Raising Kanye” is due out in bookstores in May.
