Shabaam, Others Reform Polyrhythm Addicts
Thursday, March 1, 2007 By: Kenny Rodriguez
Polyrhythm Addicts, the New York-based indie group from the 1990s, has announced a reunion album titled, “Break Glass…,” almost a decade after their collective debut.
Group members Shabaam Sahdeeq, DJ Spinna, Mr. Complex, and new artist Tiye Phoenix are releasing the follow-up to their 1999 EP, “Rhyme Related.”
“Right now, hip-hop’s in a state of emergency,” said Sahdeeq in a press statement.
“Nas said, ‘Hip-hop is dead.’ We think it can still be saved. You can see it. All you gotta do is just break the emergency glass and it’s right there.”
“Break Glass” hits stores in May via Babygrande Records. The LP will feature appearances by Pharaohe Monch, Little Brother, and Slum Village.
