Cam’ron On ‘60 Minutes’ Segment, ‘Stop Snitchin’
Friday, April 20, 2007 By: Kenny Rodriguez
To snitch or not to snitch – the debate in hip-hop over whether it’s okay to cooperate with authorities in police investigations is the center of discussion on this Sunday’s CBS program “60 Minutes.”
Harlem rapper Cam’ron is featured in a segment titled “Stop Snitchin,” and he explains why he refuses to speak to cops, even when the police investigation is centered on him.
When asked by host Anderson Cooper about his own 2005 shooting in Washington, D.C., which left him with three gunshot wounds, Cam explained why he didn’t go to police for help.
“It would definitely hurt my business, and the way I was raised, I just don’t do that,” Cam’ron said, adding that not snitching is “a code of ethics” in the streets.
“If I knew the serial killer was living next door to me? I wouldn’t call and tell anybody on him -- but I’d probably move … but I’m not going to call and be like, ‘The serial killer's in 4E.’”
“60 Minutes” airs on Sunday, April 22, at 7.p.m ET/PT.
