Flavor Flav Honored at Comedy Central Roast
Tuesday, May 22, 2007 By: Kenny Rodriguez
From Public Enemy hype-man to VH1 reality show star, Flavor Flav is now receiving the honor of being roasted by his friends and colleagues on Comedy Central.
“The Comedy Central Roast of Flavor Flav,” executively produced by Joel Gallen from Tenth Planet Productions, follows previous roasts of William Shatner and Pamela Anderson.
“We only roast the ones we love and the world is clearly crazy about this guy,” said Elizabeth Porter, senior vice president, specials and talent for Comedy Central.
“This event will be full of surprises as Flavor Flav is going to experience a whole new kind of love in this Roast.”
Although he emerged in the ‘80s and ‘90s as a member of the rap group Public Enemy, more recently Flav gained popularity for his off-the-wall antics in reality shows “The Surreal” and “Strange Love.”
“The Comedy Central Roast of Flavor Flav” airs on Sunday, Aug.12, at 10 p.m.
