Andre Benjamin, better known as Outkast’s Andre 3000, will be taking on the role of legendary entertainer Sammy Davis Jr. in the upcoming film, “Sammy and Kim.”
The movie is set in the 1950s and focuses on Sammy’s interracial relationship with actress Kim Novak which nearly cost both of them their careers.
According to the New York Times, rap mogul Damon Dash, co-founder of Roc-A-Fella Records, will be involved in the movie’s production.
Andre is also slated to appear in two other films, both currently in post-production. The first one is “Battle In Seattle” about the 1999 World Trade Organization protest, and “Semi-Pro” which is a basketball comedy co-starring Will Ferrell.
