Busta Rhymes Faces Four Separate Trials
Wednesday, July 11, 2007 By: Kenny Rodriguez
Busta Rhymes – accused of attacking two men, driving under the influence, and driving with a suspended license – will be facing four separate trials after judges refused to consolidate the charges against him.
The 35-year-old rapper, who was accused of beating one fan and a former employee in two separate incidents, was denied a motion to consolidate the two assault cases.
Meanwhile, Assistant District Attorney Harrison Schweiloch refused to combine the two drunken driving and suspended license charges, so a Manhattan court judge has allowed them to remain separate.
And for a second time, Rhymes has turned down a plea deal that would have had him serving one year in jail to cover all four cases.
The cases have been adjourned until Sept. 5.
