Wednesday, July 18, 2007 By: Kenny Rodriguez
Madlib, Cut Chemist, and Will.I.Am of the Black Eyed Peas are a few of the artists featured in a new documentary, “Brasilintime: Batucada com Discos,” which explores the cross-cultural links between hip-hop and Brazilian music.
The film, developed by the production team Mochilla, documents overlapping trends in hip-hop, samba, and bossa nova through interviews with American and Brazilian musicians.
Other artists who appear in the film include DJ Babu of Dilated Peoples, J-Rocc of the Beat Junkies, and drummer Ivan “Mamao” Conti.
“Brasilintime” debuted yesterday in the Hollywood-based Egyptian Theatre’s American Cinematheque film event, and a DVD version of the movie is already in the works.
