Dr. Dre’s Daughter Films Rap Career For DVD
Monday, July 23, 2007 By: Kenny Rodriguez
Recording artist Manaj, daughter of Dr. Dre, is working on a DVD documentary film chronicling her day-to-day life in the music industry – and the hit producer is not too happy about it.
The movie, titled “Daddy’s Shadow,” documents the female rapper as she attempts to follow in her father’s footsteps.
“Manaj clearly learned from the best and is a talent in her own right,” said Matthew Harmon, CEO of TM Media Group, the company producing the movie.
“Fans are anxious to learn from Manaj what life is really like in the shadow of Dr. Dre, and to get an insider view on a powerful mogul’s family.”
Meanwhile Dr. Dre – who has executively produced classic albums for NWA, Snoop Dogg, 50 Cent, and Eminem – has disapproved of the project, going as far as refusing to speak with his daughter.
“My dad has cut me off my involvement with the ‘Daddy’s Shadow’ project,” Manaj said last year.
“Believe it or not, my dad does not like to be in the media. He is not talking to me.”
The documentary is currently in its production phase, but a trailer can be viewed at tmmediagroup.com.
