Tony Yayo Rejects Jail Offer In Assault Case
Thursday, July 26, 2007 By: Kenny Rodriguez
G-Unit rapper Tony Yayo has rejected a nine-month jail sentence in exchange for pleading guilty to slapping and punching a 14-year-old teenager.
Yayo, 29, born Marvin Bernard, was charged in March for alleged hitting James Rosemond, the son of music executive Jimmy “Henchman” Rosemond who manages G-Unit rival The Game.
A police report states that Yayo and several associates were driving a vehicle on March 20 when they spotted the teenager walking to his internship at his father’s label, Czar Entertainment.
They allegedly surrounded the teen, and Yayo is said to have smacked him, causing his head to hit the door of a building.
In the midst of the altercation, one man reportedly flashed a semi-automatic handgun in his waistband.
Yayo pleaded not guilty to charges of assault, harassment, and endangering the welfare of a child, and was released on $5,000 bail.
The case has been adjourned until Sept. 6.
