Common’s New Album Tops Billboard Charts
Thursday, August 9, 2007 By: Kenny Rodriguez
Common topped this week’s Billboard 200 with his latest album, “Finding Forever,” marking the first time the Chicago rapper has reached the No. 1 spot in his music career.
Although “Finding Forever” surpassed last year’s LP, “Be,” which peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard charts, in comparison “Be” sold 185,000 copies in its first week while “Finding Forever” sold slightly less with 155,000 units.
Both albums were produced primarily by fellow Chicago artist Kanye West.
Common’s LP beat out rock group Korn (“Untitled”), reggae/rap artist Sean Kingston (“Sean Kingston”), and the “NOW 25” hits compilation.
