Puma clothing company has linked up with hip-hop legends Big Daddy Kane, Doug E. Fresh, and others to promote a new sportswear line after MTV’s classic show, “Yo! MTV Raps.”
“We want to make sure people understand what ‘Yo! MTV Raps’ really means," said Doug E. Fresh, who recently wrapped up a press tour in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, New York, and Boston.
“It’s bigger than a name and label. Hip-hop is what it is today because of the show.”
“Yo! MTV Raps,” which ran from 1988 to 1995, was the first TV show to broadcast hip-hop music to a mainstream audience – featuring memorable guests such as Tupac Shakur, Naughty By Nature, Cypress Hill, and Snoop Doggy Dogg.
The clothing line features limited edition sneakers, T-shirts, and hoodie sweaters designed by Doug E. Fresh, MC Shan, Big Daddy Kane, and ‘YO! MTV Raps’ co-hosts Ed Lover and Dr. Dre.
The collection debuts on Sept. 15 in Puma Concept stores nationwide.
