I'm as amped as any jay fan right now. But the way that he did kingdom come, leaves me with just a grain of skeptisism. Like jordan promising he's gonna take over and when the game n the 4th. Then coming in and scoring 4 points and fouling out. Pretty sure it won't happen again. But it shouldn't have happened the 1st time. And will ppl "respect his gansta" anymore? he's damn near 40. And coming off an album where we saw him in sports cars with dale earnheart jr and danika patrick. And commericals for computers. Ima still buy it week 1 day 1. But as far as sayin right now that this is gon be reasonable doubt........smh. And remember, put didn't take to rd that well when it was 1st released

Jay-z simply does not have the skills on the mic he posessed in 1996, also the production today is nothing what it was in the mid 90's. I was disappointed by the kingdom come and even the black album to some extent. To use a title from superman and to give clark kent rhymes is just wrong. It was a decent album but the god of rap showing his human side on a comeback album was a bad idea. Works for kanye but not for jay. I want more spittin and if he has to talk about drug dealing and his old life to do that then i guess i have to tolerate it. With the promotion he got on his last album it was understandable that he couldn't just spit out drug references and street anthems then put them on espn with dale earnhardt. With the backdrop of a movie with denzel about a drug smuggler he has an avenue to tell the stories we want to hear without coming off as a negative figure to his mainstream audience. I still don't understand because it seems to work for 50 but jay still wants to be somewhat squeaky clean as he balances endorsements for gmc and dell with making relevant music that his loyal fans want to hear. P.s. This is good sh*t and if you're listening, nobodysmiling you should pay me to do this.

.........jigga is one of the few who actually keeps it real with his listeners, because his music progressed as his life did due to success.... So i do understand when some people say they wasn't feel'n kc., but at the sametime he is a real n*gga, because any n*gga rap'n that ghetto/hood sh*t ten years in the game, and ten years rich with millions isn't keep'n it real with his fans...... Plus that n*gga's word play is straight petro..... I'm look'n for american gangsta to be maybe not as good as his first lp, but still classic material...

Funniest thing in the world is the common misconception that jay relies solely on big lines. If you listen to that dumb ass swagger jacker song that most of you are basing your comments off of. Their was a total of 24 lines that jig bit off of others 24 wow. There probbably is more but big deal. The man has written 9 solos (workin on 10) 2 callabos with r.kelly, a soundtrack of in my lifetime, a million singles that didnt even make it on albums and part of soundtrack for backstage...not to mention zillions of guest spots. If you do the math jigga has probbably written some where around 1,000 verses or more. Now do you know how many lines it takes to make up a verse? there isnt really any set # but out of all the lines he has probbably written the 24 he bit or changed or whatever is a fragment to the work he has comprised. Everybody is inspired from someone and borrows from others. Look at music throughout history. Rolling stones and led zepplin did their fair share are you gonna tell me their not great. Bottom line is listen the words on beach chair or lucky me nobody thinks with that much depth and intellect other then prob andre from outkast. American gangster another jay classic. "kingdom come" was grown folk rap. I liked the album. Remember when kat williams did his stand up? the funniest part was a drug dealer still selling weed 10 yrs and has not graduated to coke. Everyone talke about that segment and agreed it was true. The same concept applies to music. If you started out selling drugs in yours songs...ten years past and you are doing the same. Retire! it applies to all rappers still rhyming about the same thing. Lil wayne still raps about rims, jewels, and money. Jay-z showed us growth and ways to establish good credit with "kingdom come". The album will be dubbed a classic within 2 years. "i had to dumb down for my audience" he will do this with american gangsta so ya'll will still yell holla. Jay is a legend. We must grow with the music

First of all...dead or alive, jay is the epitomy of an emcee. There isn't any way that he can't serve you with the flow; his storytelling is incredible, and his radio songs are always the hottest thing in the club. My point being, if "kingdome come" was "too sophisticated", then the audience really hasn't been paying attention to progression. And that's what we all aspire to.

Jay-z, is what i like to call the beethoven of rap music. Though there were many before and after him, he sets the bar in such a way that puts in a different class. He clearly has deep respect for the craft, and brings a certain amount of intelligence to it as well. I've seen the film "american gangster" and if there were any rapper to convey this unforgettable story, it be none other than jay-z.
