Saigon’s Debut Finally Gets Release Date
Tuesday, October 2, 2007 By: Kenny Rodriguez
Despite over two years of postponements, Saigon’s long-awaited debut, “The Greatest Story Never Told,” has finally been given a release date – December 4th.
“I feel good about the timing, and I’m totally confident about coming in the fourth quarter with the big dogs,” Saigon told MTV News, possibly referring to rap artists
Jay-Z and Nas who are also slated to drop albums later this year.
Saigon’s debut, produced primarily by Just Blaze, was first mentioned in 2004 after he signed to Fort Knox Entertainment via Atlantic Records.
But due to label setbacks and sample-clearance issues, the album has since been repeatedly pushed back.
In the meantime, Saigon has released several street singles including “Pain In My Life,” and more recently “Come On Baby” – which has reportedly been remixed and now features a guest verse by Jay-Z.
In related news, the day after his album drops, the Yardfather is due in court to face traffic charges from an August arrest, including making an illegal turn and carrying a pocket knife in his vehicle.
