Jim Jones Signs to Columbia, Preps New LP
Thursday, October 11, 2007 By: Kenny Rodriguez
After a short stint on independent label Koch Records, Diplomats rapper Jim Jones has officially signed a deal with Columbia and is preparing an upcoming album.
“It’s a 50/50 joint venture with Columbia for my production company as well, Jones Family Productions,” Jones recently told Billboard magazine.
“Shout to Rick Rubin [co-head of Columbia] for believing in my artistry and Kyambo ‘Hip-Hop’ Joshua for being my partner in this process. Shout to Koch Records as well, because I broke a lot of ground with them and they gave me my own lane.”
Jones is already working on a new album, expected to hit stores in early 2008.
Meanwhile, Jones is still serving as A&R director at Warner Music Group, and he recently started a new clothing line, Nostic, alongside his mother.
