T.I. Out On $3M Bond, Under House Arrest
Monday, October 29, 2007 By: Kenny Rodriguez
T.I. was freed on Friday after posting a $3 million bond and must remain under house arrest while he awaits trial on federal weapons charges.
U.S. Magistrate Judge Alan Baverman ordered that T.I. must stay in his home while being monitored 24 hours a day by a privately hired officer at the rapper’s expense.
“I want to thank all the fans for their support,” T.I. said as he left the courthouse. “Due to the severity of the situation, I can't say much more.”
“I want to get all of this behind me,” he added before driving off in a black sports utility vehicle.
T.I., born Clifford Harris, was arrested by federal authorities on Oct. 13 for allegedly buying unregistered machine guns and silencers.
If convicted, Harris could face a combined 20 years in prison and a $500,000 fine for two counts of weapons charges.
A status conference for the case is scheduled for Monday, Nov. 5.
