Details Emerge On Jam Master Jay’s Murderer
Monday, November 5, 2007 By: Kenny Rodriguez
Five years after the murder of Jam Master Jay, a key witness has finally come forward and described the unknown gunman as having a neck tattoo.
Jay, born Jason Mizell, was murdered in his Queens, NY studio on Oct. 30, 2002. Yet despite a lengthy investigation, the case has been hindered by uncooperative witnesses, according to investigators.
Randy Allen, Mizell’s former business partner, recently sat down with the New York Daily News in an intensive interview, and said that “this is a case that can be solved” if witnesses helped detectives.
Allen added that a female witness, who was in the studio during the murder, admitted to seeing a man with a tattoo on his neck approach Mizzell and fire a gun.
The first bullet injured another person, while the second blasted into Mizell’s head from point-blank range.
Jam Master Jay is best remembered as one-third of the legendary group Run-DMC, recording such classics as “King of Rock” and “Walk This Way.”
In the 1990s, Jay was influential in shaping the careers of several rappers, most notably multi-platinum artist 50 Cent.
