Tony Yayo Strictly Banging On Wax
Tuesday, November 6, 2007 By: Michael Ivey
Hip hop mogul 50 Cent’s right hand, convicted felon Tony Yayo, is directing his energy toward the upcoming release of G-Unit’s second posse album, ‘Shoot to Kill,’ due out December 18. Despite the negative press garnered by his alleged assault against the son of industry rival Jimmy ‘Henchman’ Rosemond (Czar management), Yayo is steadfast in his denial.
"I don't smack kids," says Yayo. "It kinda hurt my feelings [when] the Daily News and everybody said bad things about me.”
Yayo claims that his mother’s house was “shot 21 times” due to public animous towards G-Unit, but he “didn't cry to the public about it.” As for the forthcoming LP’s muderous title, Yayo explains that lyrical warning shots must be fired because southern hip hop has made fans forget G-Unit’s past dominance.
“You be hearing a lot of rumors, people feel certain ways, but we're over 30 million sold as a whole,”says Yayo. “We're like the only ones holding it down for New York”. The rapper’s excitement over his camp’s recent recording sessions is reportedly attributed to inspiring beats submitted by Timbaland and Swizz Beatz. G-Unit’s 2003 posse debut, ‘Beg For Mercy,’ is certified 2X platinum. The crew has since expanded from four key members (50 Cent, Tony Yayo, Lloyd Banks & Young Buck),
adding the Brooklyn duo M.O.P., Mobb Deep, Spider Loc, Young Hot Rod, and 40 Glocc among others.
