T.I. Writes Album While Under House Arrest
Tuesday, November 13, 2007 By: Kenny Rodriguez
T.I., who is under house arrest as he faces federal weapons charges, has reportedly begun writing material for his next album, aptly titled “Paper Trail.”
The Atlanta-based rapper – who claims to have not written down lyrics since his 2001 debut, “I’m Serious” – has completed six songs in his home studio, and is already announcing a Sept. 2008 release date.
In related news, federal prosecutors have voiced concern over T.I.’s “constant requests,” including asking to allow as many as 95 guests to visit his home during the holiday season.
“The defendant is asking this Court for the very kind of special treatment to which this Court made clear the defendant was not entitled,” responded federal prosecutors.
“His constant requests for more visitors, recent complaints about ‘delays’ in the approval of visitors, and requests for maintenance workers and a traditional Thanksgiving dinner with '’family’ show that the defendant does not … appreciate the generosity of the Court in granting his release.”
T.I.’s lawyers recently withdrew their request for more visitors.
The 27-year-old rapper, born Clifford Harris, was arrested last month in Atlanta for allegedly trying to purchase several unregistered machine guns and silencers.
He was released on a $3 million bond.
