Jim Jones Inspired by Chipmunks
Saturday, November 24, 2007 By: Michael Ivey
Dipset capo and Warner Bros. Records executive Jim Jones reportedly finds inspiration for his next LP in the Tim Hill directed film “Alvin and The Chipmunks.” “It was like I was watching the film, and putting it on pause, and giving a back
story to the story,” says the sometimes volatile Harlemite. His Diplomat Records label is eyeing an early December release of the yet untitled album, which the part time rapper began building over the past few weeks after an “Alvin…” screening.
Jones is reportedly nine songs deep into the project. Jones says he was surprisingly inspired by the film, due in theaters December 14, based on the 1980s cartoon series about the zany shenanigans of a singing group of rodents.
“It immediately clicked with me,” says Jones. Jones earlier this month released ‘Harlem’s American Gangster’ in response to Jay-Z’s conceptual LP, ‘American Gangster,’ inspired by the Universal Studios film, about Harlem drug kingpin Frank Lucas, of the same name.
