Plies Loses Court Case Over Missed Show
Monday, November 26, 2007 By: Kenny Rodriguez
A concert promoter in Montgomery, Alabama won a default judgment against rapper Plies after he failed to show up for a July 8th concert.
In the lawsuit filed on July 16, Patrick Monifston of P Entertainment Promotions claimed Plies never showed up for a scheduled performance in Montgomery, which brought in 1,500 fans.
A local newspaper reported that when the crowd was informed that Plies would not take the stage, several fans began fighting, causing thousands of dollars in damages to the club.
The Florida rapper was sued for breach of contract as well as slander, after Plies reportedly made disparaging comments about the club promoter on radio station WZHT Hot 105.
While terms of the judgment are unclear, Monifston said he won at least $11,000, which covers the amount he spent to organize the event, as well as damages to the venue.
