Friends, Family Say Goodbye To Pimp C

Pimp C

Family and friends said farewell yesterday to Pimp C, who passed away last week due to unknown causes.

His funeral was held at the Robert A. Bowers Civic Center in the rapper’s hometown of Port Arthur, Texas.

Slim Thug, Chamillionaire, Willie D, and UGK partner Bun B were a few of the hip-hop artists who attended the ceremony.

“Without him we wouldn’t be where we are,” said James “J Prince” Smith, president of Rap-A-Lot Records, referring to Pimp C’s influence on Southern rap music.

“I tell everybody, Pimp was Tupac [Shakur] to the South. We probably loved him even more than the West Coast loved ‘Pac. Everybody that’s rapping today is imitating Pimp.”

“You hear so many Southern artists and hear their styles, and the influence that Pimp C and Bun B had on the whole culture,” Chamillionaire said.

“We’re created off of them. It’s a very, very big loss to the hip-hop community and you are going to see the impact globally.”

Pimp C, born Chad Butler, was found dead on Dec. 4 in the Mondrian Hotel in Los Angeles.

Authorities have ruled out foul play, but autopsy results will not be finalized for six to eight weeks.

Butler was 33 years old.

Man that's messed up how pimp c left us like that i mean he was a legend, a best friend, a son, a husband, and a father i know everybody that loved pimp c was very hurt when pimp was laid to rest yesterday yeah its okay to cry but at the same time pimp c want all of us to be happy because he is in a better place...well like pimp c said i love ya'll peace chuuch!!!!!!

Its tue pimp c had a big influence around the world..but its the impact he's made on and in small communities and towns that touched me..no matter how big he's become he never forgot about us small town playas r. I. Love pimp!!! pine bluff arkansas reppin!!

Man this really hurts my heart. I hate this sh*t happened but i guess he in a better place. I wish he had more time to enoy his freedom. U all go to youtube and listen to the real sh*t he was talking in a radio interview. I made a thread about it on shh. He talking about all the fake rappers that plague down south music with no substance in their music.

I would like to give my condolences to all of pimp-c's family and friends. May he rest in peace. I know if i'm hurt by his passing and the only way i knew him was through his music, then i know his family is devastated. I have been down with u.g.k. Since the beginning and i love their music. I am a true u.g.k. Fan. I put it in and i'm in a whole nother zone. They music just do that to you and i keep asking myself what am i gone look forward to now? see i listen to alot of slow music but when i listen to rap, i gotta have me some u.g.k. I know bun will still do his thing, but them together was the perfect fit. The world has suffered a tremendous loss and i'm still in disbelief. I want it to all be a bad dream. This is crazy. What am i supposed to listen to now? rest in peace pimp-c, you are truly truly missed. "one day u here and then u gone" that's a real ass song. _
