The D.E.Y. Named in MTV’s 2008 Top New Artists List

The D.E.Y.The D.E.Y.’s timing couldn’t be better, as the versatile crew parlays an expansive digital promo campaign into a spot on MTV’s projected impact new artists list for 2008.

When The D.E.Y. first took off our mission was to create a musical fusion of the different sounds and cultures we grew up with and bring it to a new generation of fans who share our experiences,” says singer Elan.

Divine, Elan and Yeyo (The D.E.Y.) December 31 bring their hip hop-Latin-pop front and center for the millions of viewers expected to tune in for MTV’s New Year's Eve Masquerade, direct from Times Square in New York City. The D.E.Y will perform in line with established brands Good Charlotte, Mary J. Blige, Kid Rock, and Wyclef, plus Fabolous, Paramore, Boys Like Girls, and Flo Rida. MTV’s New Year's Eve Masquerade, hosted by reality dating show ‘A Shot At Love’ star Tila Tequila, goes live at 8pm in front of a masqueraded studio audience, with house DJ Travis of Gym Class Heroes on the 1’s and 2’s.

“We can’t wait to show the people how we represent that vision and passion to the fullest…,” says Elan. The D.E.Y.’s Timbaland produced “Get The Feeling” and “Give You the World,” their latest, enjoy regular play on English and Spanish radio outlets, according to Mtvtres.com; “Give You The World” is online at MTV’s video Overdrive next to pop and urban regalia like Brittany Spears and Jay-Z. Interviews and song/video rotation at MTV.com, Latin offshoot Mtvtr3s.com and MTV affiliate Rhapsody.com-plus heavy Myspace hits-has The D.E.Y., oft compared to global hip hop squad The Fugees, poised to cast a wide net in show biz.

The crew represents Diaspora of Cuba, Puerto-Rico, Nicaragua, and the boogie-down-Bronx. Songs from collaborations with Dead Prez’s RBG affiliates as well as joints off The D.E.Y.’s Sony/Epic EP ‘The D.E.Y. Has Come’ are available at the group’s Myspace pages and www.thedey.com. An official ‘The D.E.Y. Has Come’ LP is due spring 2008.

The d.e.y really beast! there music its different and you can understand where they are coming from. Its crazy cuz people love and want to work with timberland they have. Thats like a big deal.i hope great things happens to this group that they keep making there name in this game and make it big.
