Prodigy Spreads His Message Worldwide
Wednesday, December 26, 2007 By: Michael Ivey
A three year prison bid, for yet another gun possession charge, won’t keep veteran talent Prodigy of Mobb Deep from this spring shipping his forthcoming ‘H.N.I.C. 2’ across seas using Voxonic’s ‘Voice Conversion’ technology.
“Head N***** In Charge Part 2’ will be a great way to demonstrate the international influence of Hip Hop and how Voxonic's technology can help bridge the communication gap for artists and their fans,” says Arie Deutsch, President of Voxonic Music and Voxonic, Inc. Prodigy’s follow up to ‘H.N.I.C.’ (Relativity Records, 2000) and the Alchemist produced mix album ‘Return of The Mac’ (Koch, 2007) will be released through a partnership with Voxonic Music and AAO Music/Reality, a New York label bent on bridging the gap between artists and retail by eliminating “the excessive glitz, glamour and expense” of traditional marketing campaigns.
Prodigy, expected to commence his sentence January 9, is up-beat publicly, vowing to let the world marinate on ‘H.N.I.C. 2’ while he works OT in his cell.
“You don't understand the mental power that I have,” says the oft controversy embroiled Queens emcee. “While I'm locked up, I'm going to be writing lyrics, working on the script for my second feature film, Dope, and finish writing an autobiography of my life which will be finished by the time I'm released. My mind is going to be focused and I'll have time to think and map out my entire plan. The experience will make me a tougher, stronger person.” Prodigy and career long Mobb Deep partner Havoc are signed to 50 Cent’s G-Unit Records, and their label debut ‘Blood Money’ did not perform well in retail; Prodigy was forced to edit anti-Jesus/God lyrics on the song “Pearly Gates” and thereafter sought a solo return to his grizzly foundation. ‘H.N.I.C. 2’ is produced by Havoc, Alchemist and up and coming beatsmiths.
“We welcome the opportunity to work with Prodigy and challenge the traditional marketing ideas," says Peter Kuys, Chairman of AAO Music. In addition to converting Prodigy’s visceral rhymes to 1,500 languages, including Spanish, French and German, Voxonic Music and AAO Music/Reality leads a serious online/grassroots campaign to promote ‘H.N.I.C. 2;’ social networking site www.hnic2.com, where fans can blog along with “Bandanna P” and access exclusive content from the new album, is already up and running.
