Joe Budden Works On Studio LP, ‘Padded Room’
Monday, January 28, 2008 By: Kenny Rodriguez
Joe Budden is currently wrapping up his upcoming album, “Padded Room,” which will be his first studio LP since his 2003 debut.
“It’s complete,” said Budden, who has recorded three “Mood Muzik” mixtapes in the past five years.
“It basically will be in the same vein as ‘Mood Muzik,’ just a little more structure, and the mood will probably be a little lighter. I’m definitely pleased with the direction that it’s going.”
The New Jersey-based rapper first began working on his sophomore album in 2004, originally titled “The Growth.” But the project was scrapped after a dispute with Def Jam Recordings, prompting Budden to eventually leave the label.
“The relationship [with Def Jam] went sour over the years, not something that just happened spontaneously or instantly. It was kind of a developing process.”
After “Padded Room,” expected to hit stores in spring, Budden plans on releasing his third album which is already in production.
“I’m in the studio every single day, vibing and coming up with ideas. There’s always music around to put out, so you’ll hear more from me sooner than later, I hope.”
