Kanye Takes Home Four Grammy Awards

Kanye West took home four Grammy’s yesterday at the 50th anniversary of the award show, despite not winning the coveted “Best Album of the Year” trophie.

West – who initially had eight nominations – won for best rap album (“Graduation”), best rap solo performance (“Stronger”), best rap performance by a duo or group (“Southside” by Common and Kanye), and best rap song (“Good Life” featuring T-Pain).

“A lot of people said hip-hop is dead,” West said.

“The art form wasn’t popping like that anymore. I wanted to cross the genres and show people we can still express ourselves with something fresh and new.”

The Chicago artist also performed “Stronger” onstage, followed by an a cappella version of “Hey Mama” in memory of his late mother, Donda West, who passed away in November.

Meanwhile, label mates Jay-Z and Rihanna also received a Grammy for best rap/sung collaboration (“Umbrella”).

But best album of the year went to jazz artist Herbie Hancock for his 2007 release, “River: The Joni Letters.”

The grammys played kanye west once again, i wonder if they can ever give a rapper album of the year (besides the love below which wasn't a rap album). I really thought it was between kanye and amy winehouse this year.

Im proud of kanye. He did everything in a respectable manner. He was nominated for eight and took home four, that aint bad at all. Keep yo head up kanye!!!!!!!!!

Hahah man that superbowl southside track aint wack. It was never meant to be album material anyway. Cant compare it to the track on common's album. But well done ye, damn right they cant tell ya nothin!

50 don't need to win no status-faking grammy award - streets still respect him. Plus, why did it it take kanye's mom to die b/4 they give 8 sympathy nominations and 4 sympathy grammys. Now his music is gonna get wack, cuz he has nothin to be angry about, cuz everybody's cuddling his ball sayin, "good job, kanye. You earned it"!
