Thursday, February 14, 2008 By: Kenny Rodriguez
Rap artists Common, KRS-One, and Q-Tip are remaking a few of their classic tracks in collaboration with Smirnoff, as the vodka brand launches a new series of mix drinks later this month.
Meanwhile, hit producers DJ Premier, Just Blaze, and Cool & Dre are providing beats for the promotional project.
Just Blaze is remixing Common’s 2000 song “The Light,” DJ Premier will work on KRS-One’s 1988 hit “I’m Still #1,” and Cool & Dre are remaking Q-Tip’s 1999 party track “Vivrant Thing.”
All of the artists will perform live at the Smirnoff launch party on Feb. 26th, and each remake will be available afterwards for free download on Smirnoff.com.
