Lil Wayne Pleads Not Guilty, Pushes LP To April
Wednesday, February 27, 2008 By: Kenny Rodriguez
Lil Wayne pled not guilty on Monday after being arraigned on gun charges for an incident last year in New York City.
The 25-year-old rapper, born Dwayne Carter Jr., was arrested in July 2007 when police found a .40-caliber pistol in his tour bus, following a concert at the Beacon Theater in midtown Manhattan.
According to his lawyer, he was charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree.
Since then, Wayne has had several more run-ins with the law – including an arrest in October 2007 for a felony fugitive charge in Idaho, and again this past January for drug possession in Arizona.
And in related news, Wayne has announced that his long-anticipated album, “Tha Carter III,” is being pushed back again – this time to April.
“I make it worse for Universal [Records],” Wayne recently said.
“I keep doing new songs every other day. I don’t stop working, so I don’t know when they’re gonna get that. Everything I do be better than the last, like: ‘Oh, this gotta make the album!’”
Although the final tracklist is still unknown, Wayne has been busy recording with numerous artists including Jay-Z, Busta Rhymes, Juelz Santana, Fabolous, and Ludacris.
