KRS-One, Buckshot Team Up For Duck Down LP
Thursday, February 28, 2008 By: Kenny Rodriguez
Although rap has witnessed a string of duet projects in recent years, this one is really unprecedented – KRS-One and Buckshot are recording a joint album on Duck Down Records.
“To say we are honored and humbled would be an understatement,” said Dru Ha, co-owner of Duck Down.
“Buck and I have known KRS since our early days in the game, back when we were recording at D&D Studios, and he directly influenced the name of the label with his [Boogie Down Productions] song ‘Duck Down.’”
According to a press release, three tracks have already been recorded for the LP, and Buckshot says the pairing flowed naturally in the studio.
“This collaboration with KRS-One is going to be an album full of hip-hop conversation, ranging from New World Order, to socially conscious topics such as unemployment, poverty, and politics.
“At the same time, we will speak to the streets, as that is what I’m known to do,” he added.
The duet album is slated to drop later this year.
Before then, Buckshot is gearing up for another joint LP, “The Formula,” with former Little Brother producer 9th Wonder.
“The Formula” hits stores on April 15, also on the Duck Down label.
