Koch Records Presents ‘…Secret Weapon’
Monday, March 10, 2008 By: Mike Ivey Jr.
Atlanta’s Baby D may release his next LP, ‘A-Town Secret Weapon,’ through indie distributor Koch on April 29, but the project includes work by major players on today’s urban music scene. The album’s lead single, “I’m Bout Money,” is produced by DJ Montay, the man behind chart toppers like “Low” (Flo-Rida) and “Walk It Out” (DJ Unk). A visual for “I’m Bout Money” was directed by RAGE (Jim Jones, Soulja Boy, DJ Unk). Baby D also manages to offer fans collaborations with Murda Inc. singer Lloyd (“Two of the Youngest Players”), and popular southern rappers Shawty Lo and Gucci Mane (“Put Me in the Freezer” ) on ‘A-Town Secret Weapon.’
Baby D is a marquee act signed with Atlanta’s Oomp Camp; Big Oomp operates internationally recognized Big Oomp Records along with a movement of Southern Style DJs (DJ Jelly, DJ Montay, DJ Unk, DJ Shawty Rock, Riot Squad DJs, etc.). Twelve years ago Oomp helped move indie units of Major Bank’s ‘Life After Death’ without radio promo or national distribution. Today Big Oomp oversees the careers of artists responsible for some of the highest selling singles in hip hop (“Walk It Out,” “Low,” etc.).
