Method Man, RZA Work On Movie Projects
Tuesday, March 18, 2008 By: Kenny Rodriguez
While Wu-Tang Clan rappers Method Man and the RZA wrap up their solo albums, the two artists are also hitting the silver screen with separate film projects.
After a successful premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in January, Method Man will be releasing his film “The Wackness” this upcoming summer, backed by Sony Pictures Classics.
Set in the mid-1990s, Meth co-stars as a Rastafarian drug dealer who forms a friendship with a therapist, which is later complicated when he falls for the doctor’s daughter.
“The Wackness” features an impressive cast including Ben Kingsley (“Schindler’s List”), Famke Janssen (“X-Men”), and Mary-Kate Olsen of “Full House” fame.
It hits theaters on July 2.
Meanwhile, the RZA is also busy wrapping up two movies: the sci-fi action film “Repossession Mambo,” and an inner-city drama “Life Is Hot In Cracktown.” Both are due out later this year.
As far their music – no word yet on Method Man’s next LP, “Crystal Meth,” which is still in production.
The RZA’s album, “Digi Snax,” is scheduled for release in June.
