Craig G, Marley Marl To Release Joint Album
Thursday, March 27, 2008 By: Kenny Rodriguez
Craig G and Marley Marl, members of the legendary Juice Crew from the 1980s, have come together to release a joint album with quite a hefty title – “Operation: Take Back Hip-Hop.”
“‘Operation: Take Back Hip-Hop’ is just what it is," said Craig G, whose most recent work includes ghostwriting for Eminem’s film “8 Mile.”
“Instead of me wasting years complaining along with journalists and everyone else, Marley and I are trying to make change through music.”
“This is my passion, this is what raised me, and I refuse to stand by and watch my culture get destroyed any further with poor quality music.”
While Marley Marl will handle most of its production, the album is set to feature cameos by KRS-One, Talib Kweli, Sadat X, and Rakaa Iriscience of Dilated Peoples.
“Operation: Take Back Hip-Hop” hits stores this spring.
Meanwhile, film producers are still casting for an upcoming film based on the classic rap group the Juice Crew, which included artists Big Daddy Kane, Kool G Rap, Masta Ace, Roxanne Shante, and Biz Markie.
