Craig G, Marley Marl To Release Joint Album

Thursday, March 27, 2008
By: Kenny Rodriguez

Craig GCraig G and Marley Marl, members of the legendary Juice Crew from the 1980s, have come together to release a joint album with quite a hefty title – “Operation: Take Back Hip-Hop.”

“‘Operation: Take Back Hip-Hop’ is just what it is," said Craig G, whose most recent work includes ghostwriting for Eminem’s film “8 Mile.”

“Instead of me wasting years complaining along with journalists and everyone else, Marley and I are trying to make change through music.”

“This is my passion, this is what raised me, and I refuse to stand by and watch my culture get destroyed any further with poor quality music.”

While Marley Marl will handle most of its production, the album is set to feature cameos by KRS-One, Talib Kweli, Sadat X, and Rakaa Iriscience of Dilated Peoples.

“Operation: Take Back Hip-Hop” hits stores this spring.

Meanwhile, film producers are still casting for an upcoming film based on the classic rap group the Juice Crew, which included artists Big Daddy Kane, Kool G Rap, Masta Ace, Roxanne Shante, and Biz Markie.

And to all you people that dont know how to talk useing that thurr stuff. Go back to school. You are never going to get anywhere in life. But your moms basement. And im sure she is ashamed of you as well.

Ps. Hip hop does need artist to save it. Because for the last 10 years or so all you see is a bunch of dumb rappers. Its like the dumber you are the more the media plays your stuff. That is a big problem. And the reason a lot of people write off hip hop. We need real hip hop to be shown on these music outlets. So people know they have a choice. And the parents of the kids just getting into it arent worried about there kids talking like a retard and shooting someone. Dont bother responding to my comment in a negative manner. You will only make me expose your ignorance to the future observers of this page. Peace and blessings.

"operation:take back hip-hop" is a quality statement, movement, and title. People say "their sick of people sayin that" are the same people that wants to be paid from our culture of hip-hop and don't actually live it! 90% of the rappers aren't emcees and "when the money is gone the emcees will be the only one rappin" to quote phonte!

I was at a music equipment store the other day and i observed a couple of youngsters looking at some guitars. They spoke about the legendary les paul and his guitars. Mind you these youngsters was not even thought of when les started making history, but he apparently still has influence on the culture along with hendrix. My point is this, this is my hip hop culture and i have to respect the innovators from the ground up! thanks marley marl for making me fall in love with this music! thank you marley marl for sampling earlier music and making me take a second look at all the hits from the past.......nuff said

Craig g is one of the illest mc's (not rapper) of all time! he'd run circles around all the youngs and lils and that faggot ass Bia'ch soulja boy!!! taking back hip hop is absolutely necessary! when you ignorant idiots dis respect the pioneers you disrespect the culture as a whole! that's like disrespecing your parents! hip-hop and urban radio sucks!!! mainly due to ignorant rappers talking about nothing. Craig g is not just complaining about hip hop, he's making a statement that many people agree with... But if he was complaining, he has every right to. He was there when hip hop was concieved and if it wasn't for people like him you Bia'ches wouldn't even have a culture to make you rich. You'd all still be ignorant hood rats killing each other over drugs so you can have the latest air jordans! respect the pioneers and respect the culture you rookie ass mother F*ckers!
