Rock Steady B-Boy Pioneer Passes Away

Wayne “Frosty Freeze” Frost, a breakdancing pioneer from the Rock Steady Crew, passed away yesterday from an undisclosed illness.
Frost, best known for his appearance in the 1983 film “Flashdance,” died from an unnamed illness, according to a rep from the Bronx-based breakdancing team.
“He was one of the most charismatic B-boys that ever lived,” said Benson Lee, director of the forthcoming documentary, “Planet B-Boy.”
Frost first joined the Rock Steady Crew in 1981 alongside notable breakdancers Crazy Legs and Ken Swift.
He has since toured worldwide with hip-hop personality Fab 5 Freddy, graffiti artist Futura 2000, and rap manager Kool Lady Blue.
The New York native also appeared in hip-hop films “Wild Style,” “Beat Street,” and “Style Wars” in the 1980s.
“He was one of the first B-boys that most people ever saw,” said Joseph Schloss, music professor at New York University, referring to his appearance in “Flashdance” which helped popularize breakdancing around the world.
Frost was 44 years old.
