Termanology of Nature Sounds Debuts Fall ’08
Tuesday, April 8, 2008 By: Mike Ivey Jr.
A healthy co-sign from groundbreaking producer DJ Premier (“Watch How It Goes Down”) propels Massachusetts native Termanology to a fall release of ‘Politics As Usual;’ the album features beats by leading hip-hop sound techs DJ Premier, Hi-Tek, Pete Rock, The Alchemist, Havoc, Buckwild, Nottz and Large Professor.
"Term has a unique desire for the culture because he touches the issues that I can relate to as a TRUE HIP-HOP HEAD…his flows are nice, and he stays creative with his subject matter...he even speaks for me and not every new MC comin' up can do that,” says Premier. The title ‘Politics As Usual’ is borrowed from a ‘Reasonable Doubt’ (Jay-Z, 1996) track and reaches retail via a joint venture between Termanology’s ST. Records and indie distributor Nature Sounds (MF Doom, Masta Killa, Havoc, Pete Rock).
"I decided to go the indie route to have total control of everything related to my project," says Termanology of the deal he struck in 2007. The white and Puerto Rican champion of “real hip-hop” used his relationship with fellow Massachusetts native DJ Statik Selektah to emerge on the Boston hip hop radar around 2002. Since then, not only has XXL and The Source taken notice of skills involved with Termanology’s ‘Hood Politics’ mixtape series but so has a burgeoning fan base and his peers; "Termanology puts the MC back in MC-ing, he's a breath of fresh air in this dirty game," says UGK’s Bun B.
