Foxy Brown Gets Early Release This Friday
Tuesday, April 15, 2008 By: Kenny Rodriguez
Foxy Brown, who is serving a one-year sentence in Rikers Island, will be released from prison this Friday in a surprise announcement, according to her manager.
“She did every single minute of her bid in jail, and she did it under the most severe conditions,” said Charles “Chaz” Williams, who manages the Brooklyn rapper and serves as CEO of Black Hand Entertainment.
“They had her on continuous lockdown just because she is a celebrity,” he added, citing she was in solitary confinement in October 2007.
“They were trying to break her spirit.”
According to a city spokesperson, Brown – born Inga Marchand – had requested to be placed in protective custody, as other inmates may have targeted her due to her celebrity status.
Brown was originally scheduled for release on May 13, after being sentenced in August 2007 for violating her parole.
This past January, Brown filed for early release to seek treatment for her sensorineural hearing loss which left her partially deaf in 2006.
Her upcoming album, “Brooklyn’s Don Diva,” is set to drop on May 13. Meanwhile, she is still in talks with cable network VH1 for a possible reality show based on her life after jail.
