Young Buck Leaves G-Unit Amid Rumors
Monday, April 21, 2008 By: Kenny Rodriguez
Last week, 50 Cent confirmed that Young Buck has been ousted from G-Unit – amid rumors of close ties with Lil Wayne, unpaid checks, and allegations of drug use.
50 recently told MTV News that Young Buck was dismissed from the Queens-based group, although he is still contractually bound to G-Unit Records.
The decision came after a series of events including Buck’s affiliation with Lil Wayne and Baby, despite 50’s ongoing feud with the Cash Money Millionaires.
More recently, Buck claimed in an interview that he never received a royalty check from G-Unit, which he has been signed to since 2003.
“As far as Buck is concerned, he can be compared to Game because he did some of the same things,” said 50, referring to the Compton rapper who was previously dropped from G-Unit in 2005.
“[Young Buck] went on and said he was cool with some of the people that it isn’t public I’m cool with. The public’s impression is [that] me and those people have issues. So how are you cool, and we down with each other?”
“When a person has that much inconsistencies in their character, how can you value them or call them a friend, when you don’t know what you’re gonna say or do tomorrow?”
50 Cent also compared Young Buck to Queensbridge rapper Nas, a former associate and neighborhood friend.
“That was the same issue I had with Nas. Nas didn’t do anything to me. He was just so wishy-washy that I said, ‘I can’t value a friendship with you.’ You can’t gauge who they are. You call them a friend, for what? So tomorrow when it’s convenient for them to go in another direction, regardless [of] what position it puts you in, they’ll just do it?”
Lastly, 50 also alleged that Young Buck is addicted to cocaine and syrup, a popular drink which mixes promethazine and codeine found in cough syrup – saying, “he doesn’t even get high anymore; he just maintains [his] high. You have to be sober to be high.”
Meanwhile, G-Unit is preparing its upcoming album, now titled “Terminate On Sight,” due out on June 24.
Surprisingly, it will still feature Young Buck on several songs – including its first two singles “Rider Part 2” and “I Like The Way She Do It.”
“He’ll still be on those records,” 50 added.
“I wouldn’t pull him off of the records. I like the records the way they are. He’s on the [album] three of four times. He’s not going to be in the videos, but he can shoot [videos for] his solo project when he’s done – when he gets himself together.”
In other reports, Young Buck is currently working on a street mixtape (“Honorable Discharge: Cashville Chronicles”) and a documentary DVD (“A Billion Bucks”).
Over the weekend, Buck leaked a new song titled “My Interview,” which briefly addresses his dismissal from G-Unit. He raps:
“Damn right I’m sipping syrup, flipping birds to get what I deserve / And I hear the same things that you heard / Like ‘50 kicked him out’ or ‘Buck sniffs coke and he flips out’ / It’s too late, the whole world know what I be about / But I do make mistakes like any other man / Sh*t, I recoup off an album quicker than you can … Am I loyal? Dr. Dre can answer that for you.”
