Capone-N-Noreaga Break Hiatus With New LP
Wednesday, April 23, 2008 By: Kenny Rodriguez
Queens duo Capone-N-Noreaga are reuniting after a long-standing hiatus for their upcoming album, tentatively titled “Report The War.”
Capone and Noreaga last paired up on their 2000 LP, “The Reunion,” although they are best known for their 1997 debut, “The War Report” – which featured classic singles “T.O.N.Y. (Top of New York)” and “L.A., L.A.”
Both albums went on to reach gold status, selling 500,000 copies.
In 2003, CNN recorded a third album, “What Up 2 Da Hood,” which was eventually shelved and considered a street mixtape.
Despite pursuing separate careers – Noreaga signed to Def Jam Recordings and dabbled with reggaeton music, while Capone independently released two solo albums – both rappers have been hinting at a possible reunion since 2006.
The group recently signed to indie label SMC Recordings, whose roster includes rappers Killer Mike and Pastor Troy.
CNN’s “Report The War” is scheduled to drop in July.
