Lil Kim Wins $500K From Lil Cease Over DVD
Monday, May 19, 2008 By: Kenny Rodriguez
Lil Kim was awarded $500,000 in a lawsuit filed against Lil Cease, a former affiliate from the 1990s group Junior M.A.F.I.A., for the unauthorized use of her name and image in a recent DVD.
Last week, a Manhattan federal judge found that Lil Cease and his company, Ground Zero Entertainment, wrongly capitalized on Lil Kim’s fame on their DVD, “The Chronicles of Junior M.A.F.I.A., Part II: Reloaded.”
Kim, born Kimberly Jones, originally filed a $6 million lawsuit and later won a temporary restraining order against the entire Junior M.A.F.I.A., as well as put a halt to sales of the DVD.
Several members of Junior M.A.F.I.A. – which was formed by the late Notorious B.I.G. in the early 1990s – left the group following his death in 1997.
More recently in 2005, Lil Cease testified against Lil Kim in a criminal trial that ended with her conviction for perjury and conspiracy.
Kim served one-year-and-a-day in prison before her release in 2006.
